Elaine McGinn visual artist
In my MFA studies I combine drawing with video, sculpture and performance on the themes of vegetation and landscape My interest in line and more recently in threads mark a return to a culture of handmaking and craft. My current work is broadly concerned with what it means to be a body in a post covid world, I use objects found in my local environment that are deteriorating in structure and hold a readymade backstory of coming into being. Drawing on my own experience as well as the narratives of history and counter history, I explore making and remaking of meaning through the expansive qualities of reflection and performative actions, both inside and outside of institutional spaces.
